Michael (Mik) Underdown is a Guernsey born and resident licensed fiduciary and trust professional. He gained a Masters Degree in corporate governance in 2000, became a Chartered Secretary in 2003 and is also a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. A long-standing member of the Institute of Directors in Guernsey, he was licensed by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission to carry out fiduciary business in 2017.
His twenty years of senior-level fiduciary experience follows earlier careers as deck officer in the Royal Navy and merchant navy, together with executive board positions with various private commercial businesses.
As well as consulting on regulatory and compliance risk for other Guernsey-based licensed fiduciaries, Mik offers services as court-appointed Guardian for Guernsey persons who have a reduced capacity to look after their own affairs. He also acts as Protector, Enforcer and Guardian for Guernsey trusts, purpose trusts and foundations, and holds a number of independent non-executive director positions (INEDs).
